The challenges that organizations face is the reason why their diversity and inclusive (DandI) program isn’t working. There are a few reasons the diversity and inclusion courses at work aren’t functioning.

The resistance of employees to DandI is a typical issue. There are many causes for opposition to programs for DandI. People may not be convinced they have the ability to effect real change they feel a sense of victimization or disregarded by a certain small group of people. Certain studies have shown that mandatory diversity education can result in more animosity toward other groups after training. Companies often incorporate DandI programs for the purpose of checking the boxes. It is important to note that a DandI program does not guarantee to achieve its goals just because it exists. DandI programs require change in behavior. They can also be employed as a solution to a situation or an event. If your first experience putting attention on a DandI program happens immediately when an issue is raised, this can come across as inauthentic and may result in the mentioned anxiety about diversity. In addition, if the upper management isn’t devoting time or attention to the program and this lack of attention will be passed along to employees.
